Western Lake Washington Olympic Forest

First heads up… DON”T FORGET THE FISHING GEAR!!

As we go camping, there was a fire ban in effect the beautiful rain forest earned its name. This did not dampen my spirits during the adventure. The sounds of osprey and bluejay are abundant and lively. In this neck of the woods, it seems the squirrels tend to sleep in late, once they awaken they can be troublesome. One ornery tree rat suddenly started chirping an alarm, even though we had been under his home all night and were having a tasty breakfast.

Now he has my attention, by scurrying down the tree staying just out of my grasp. My peeps repeatedly told me to leave it, but how could I, he was calling me out. My buddy Toven and I could no longer hold our excitement and we went for it. Let me tell you that little booger was bad news a coming. Suddenly as I tried climbing the tree I was caught, snagged by a snare made from old wire, abandoned by a past visitor. As this old piece of litter held me by my neck, my peeps came to my rescue, freeing me and gathering what remnants of old wire were remaining, discarding the tricky rodents trap in their carry out trash. As they surveyed the area, they collected more of this rusty relic of old memories of the area, trying to be kind and make the camp more pleasurable for the next visitors.
